Dear Parents and Students of Grades 10 and 11,
As you know, we are planning a trip to Nepal for students of grades 11 and 12 (2016 to 2017). The trip is part of the CAS; students will be involved in community service activities in a village that was badly affected by the 2015 earthquake. The students will also have an opportunity to explore the beautiful country and learn a little about the culture. We will be working with the company World Vision: www.gviworld.com
The planned dates are 9 to 19 September 2016. The cost will be between $2,800 and $3,000 (depending on numbers). This will cover the costs of travel, food and accommodation, medical insurance ($25) and the project on site. Students will need to obtain a visa that will cost $25. Families are advised to arrange their own insurance cover for personal valuables such as computers and phones. In addition, students will need some personal spending money. Please note that the accommodation will be clean, safe but basic and students will be expected to share the cooking and cleaning chores.
A deposit of $1,500 is required on sign-up (see attached) and the balance will be due by the end of May.
Visa: I have contacted the Nepalese Consul in Beirut and the Embassy in Cairo. The information I have is that visas will be issued on arrival in Kathmandu for all. I urge you to make your own inquiries before you sign up, visa requirements can be unpredictable. The contact details are:
