The assessment philosophy of Wellspring Learning Community, hereafter referred to as Wellspring, is consistent with the principles and practices expected by the International Baccalaureate (IB). The purpose of assessment is to provide stakeholders with feedback regarding the students’ performance and enable them to reach expected learning outcomes for each subject area. Assessment practices at Wellspring help enable students to become life-long learners and encourage creativity and intellectual diversity.
Wellspring uses a variety of assessment tools and strategies. These include the use of formative assessment, which aims to improve students’ learning and help them reach their potential, and summative assessment, which is related to measuring students’ performance against International Baccalaureate assessment guidelines.
